This grade II listed house within a secluded plot has been handed down from grandparent to grandson & is now in the ownership of the residing family.
Our brief requires a full refurbishment & reinstatement of the period property & adaptation to allow for a self-contained annex to accommodate an older member of the family as well as to extend at the rear in order to create a comfortable kitchen living & dining space.
The extension is proposed to be constructed as a light-weight timber structure with exposed finishes which is designed to both complement & contrast against the host building. The kitchen space enjoys a higher roof which allows for perimeter clerestory glazing to flood the space with north facing daylight without risk of overheating.
Internally, the ceiling features an exposed structural timber framed root & also reveals the listed building facade visible through the large facade openings.
The development will create a low-energy home with a ground source heat pump, PV solar panels with battery storage, grey water recycling & underfloor heating.
The project is currently in the planning stage.
