Horseshoe

This project involves the demolition of a three-storey public house and the creation of a mixed-use development with a commercial retail unit on the ground floor, 20 flats on the upper floors and a basement containing plant and a store room.

 

The application met with strong local resistance and media coverage. The requirement to provide on-site parking at ground floor resulted in a raised shared amenity deck at first floor level with light wells puncturing the slab to provide daylight below.

 

The building is designed to respect prevailing storey heights adjacent to and opposite the site, incorporating punctured terrace balconies designed to shield noise generated by the busy main road. The project was granted planning approval 2017 and is currently undergoing construction.
